Have you thought about a YouTube marketing strategy? You seriously need to take into consideration the fact that every single day YouTube videos are watched about a Billion times — and sometimes twice that. Beyond that, YouTube uploaders add 20 hours of video content every single minute.

Now, that’s a heck of a lot lot of videos… and a lot of opportunity for your business.

You do realize that YouTube is the default video platform on desktops, newer TVs, the Wii, and mobile these days, right?

And while you probably know that Google is the number one search engine, did you know that YouTube is the number two search engine? More people search You Tube every day than they do Yahoo!

So the question is… What’s Your marketing strategy on YouTube going to be?

You need separate strategies for both YouTube and Google, not to mention Yahoo!, Bing, et al, and the major social networks such as Facebook and Twitter, just to name two.

Marketing is all about bringing quality leads into your funnel. To accomplish that, you need strategies that are tailored to the requirements of each lead source. “One size fits all” doesn’t work.

I’ve been experimenting with a new YouTube strategy and the results so far are amazing. I thought you might want to tag along and see how things turn out.

Here’s what’s happening:

On April 30, 2010, I created a brand new YouTube channel. I didn’t post any of my own videos. My intent was to build the channel using Other People’s Videos (OPV). By doing this, I’m building a following (friends and subscribers) beforehand. I’m fine tuning my channel to fit my niche and building relationships now. Get the picture? I’ll have my audience built before I upload my new videos. I’ll understand what my audience likes and dislikes, what they respond to, what they watch and what makes them take action.

Besides that, I can send broadcasts to my list from inside YouTube.

If you’re going to try this strategy, I’d like to give you a few key points to keep in mind.

Use at least one solid keyword in your username when you sign up for your account. For instance, I used WordPressInsider, because I teach WordPress. You see, your username will be the title of your page, which if you choose well, is great SEO.

Then when you prepopulate your channel using OPVs, you also select them from within your niche. This way you’ll know that the people you attract to your channel will be interested in your niche.

Now that’s a great audience to put your messages in front of! You’ll have time to react to what you’re learning and craft the perfect messages.

Well, that’s a good start for you. I’ll add to this subject tomorrow since I decided to try to take part in this “100 articles in 100 days” challenge that Ezine Articles is putting on. In the meantime, I hope I got your interest. 4000 watch hours on youtube
